2012
Presenter(s): Kate Stower

Wood Lake Meeting Center at the Southeast Service Cooperative, 210 Wood Lake Drive SE, Rochester, MN 55904 (View Map)
Date Summary:   1 Session on 6/12/2012.

Description:

What are standards? When did we get new social studies standards? How different are the newly revised 2011 social studies standards from the 2004 standards?  What is a civic skill, the “circular flow model”, or “TODALSS”? If you are unsure about the answer to any of the above questions, then read on…

Spend a day a day exploring the newly revised social studies standards with Kate Stower, Program Coordinator for the Minnesota Center for Social Studies Education*. The new standards review process will be discussed and the new standards will be “unpacked”. The day will include time for you to explore your grade level(s) with other teachers and share ideas about how to address some of the new requirements.

*The Center for Social Studies Education is a partnership between the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Historical Society. For more information, go to: http://csse.mnhs.org
